Interview with Jasmine Kahlia [From ALVÄ Apparel UK Online]

Intro to who you are as an artist:

I am sooo sick of saying this but for anyone that doesnt know me [and there’s alot that don’t] I am Jasmine Kahlia, an Acclaimed Audiovisual Artist that works prolifically within 19 Art Disciplines.

What’s your strongest piece of work?

Most likely Everythin is Temporary [Wellcome Collection, Poetry Library] 5 WAYS 2 RUN [Edinburgh Fringe] or CRY L8R [Most expensive piece sold to date]!

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I’m the hardest working night owl anyone’s ever seen. I will do it ALL - and then some. But not before 11am. NEVER before 11am.

What unique talent do you have?

Live looping. But actually I’d say my real talent would be languages. I speak Catalan, Spanish and a bit of emergency French / Turkish / German.

What do you do to relax?

I watch 90’s films and indulge in the art of cinematography [which I feel we dont get much anymore within modern cinema].

Whats your most treasured artistic process?

Free creation without the pressure of having to be perfect. It’s actually very hard but that’s what makes me such an excellent artist., especially within looping, where every version of the song you perform turns out different in small [or large if you fuck up your timing] ways.

What’s your favourite part of the ALVÄ Apparel Collection?

I love the 2007 Freestyle Windbreaker.

I mean, it’s a jacket with a little picture of my face on it. What’s not to love?

Guys, I’m doing something new. Back ALVÄ Apparel and follow the movement!
