Being a musician in London is beginning to feel like a crime. An expensive one at that too.

It’s such a stigmatised practise in many spaces now. How loud will it be? What genre? How many people? You need to book security. The list goes on. It starts to get expensive when you clock in rehearsals, transport, paying collaborators etc.

In this show, I took on being not just Performer but Logistics, Curator, Technician, Planner, Finance. It was one of the most stressful shows on the tour, as it coincided with my cancelled wedding reception date.

 

Venues dont really provide technicians or support staff for artists anymore. On this show last year, I singlehandedly curated + led the event. I also had to control the lighting and sound from onstage, which is just insane.

Now I’m coming out of sabbatical, and booking my 2026 dates. I know there’s now more demand for my music and performances, and I have so much to consider. Is the space right? Is it wheelchair accessible? Is my equipment secure?
