9 YEARS ON FROM ROADGALS

9 YEARS ON FROM ROADGALS

I feel dizzy thinking about all that time that's flown by.

So it’s been 9 years since I opened ROADGALS in Rich Mix and it’s going to be 10 years from my first exhibition London Teen.

I remember the nerves and positive disbelief when I got offered space in the 639 Centre to exhibit my work and create a mural. And the feeling of putting together a big piece like Road Gals in Rich Mix. I had 3 months to make it but it was a fantastic show and one of my top pieces that I curated

When I find the footage, I’m going to make a video about the experience and putting together this collection. It was unreal.

I made the Roadgals EP not as a collection of songs but rather as a collection of sonic art pieces. I wasnt too bothered about making catchy songs but rather making an archive of my experience living in North Tottenham as a young black girl.

Roadgals was a mad installation: panel, live art, livelooping, burlesque, and onscreen installations. It was a wild ride, and I really miss making art like that.

I met some cool artists as part of that journey, shout them out still.Even if 1 person listens and vibes with the collection I’ll be happy.

Let’s go.
